Christi Griffin is frequently called on to speak on the difficult subjects of mass incarceration, the school to prison pipeline, over policing and their interrelationship with the private prison industry. Often referencing her book, Incarcerations in Black and White, The Subjugation of Black America, she relies on stark statistics the underscore the staggering increase in prison populations and the introduction of private prisons in the United States.

Among her most coveted engagements was speaking at the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington Conference in Washington DC, moderating a panel discussion at the 100th Anniversary of the Association of African American Life and History (ASALH) founded by Carter G. Woodson, serving as the first speaker for the inaugural breakfast launch of the St. Louis Community College Annual Social Justice Week and following in the footsteps as such notable speakers as W.E. B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington to address The Anniversary Club, the oldest African American social club in the state of Missouri, founded in1860.
